About the Role

We are seeking a motivated and experienced Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) to lead our dedicated Day Oncology Unit at Far North Oncology & Infusion Centre.

In this pivotal leadership role, you will oversee the clinical, operational, and professional aspects of the unit. Working closely with oncologists and a multidisciplinary team, you’ll ensure the delivery of safe, effective, and compassionate cancer care.

This is a part-time position currently working Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, ideal for a strong leader who wants to make a meaningful difference in cancer care while maintaining work-life balance.

Key Responsibilities

Provide clinical leadership, mentoring, and support to the oncology nursing team

Coordinate day-to-day operations of the Day Oncology Unit, including staff scheduling, patient flow, and resource allocation

Oversee the safe delivery of chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and targeted therapies

Ensure compliance with clinical guidelines, infection control, and best practice standards

Act as a key liaison between nursing, medical, and allied health staff

Support the professional development of team members and foster a positive team culture

Promote continuous quality improvement and participate in audits and accreditation activities

Advocate for patients and ensure their physical, emotional, and psychological needs are met

Qualifications & Requirements

✅ Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent
✅ Current AHPRA Nursing Registration
✅ Minimum 2 years’ experience in oncology nursing, with prior leadership or management experience
✅ Completion of current ADAC and BloodSafe competencies
✅ Demonstrated ability to manage staff, clinical operations, and patient care needs concurrently
✅ Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
✅ Strong clinical decision-making and problem-solving abilities
✅ Current Working With Children Check and Police Check
