Team Leader – SDA & SIL | Port Macquarie
We are currently seeking a passionate and experienced Team Leader to join our Supported Independent Living (SIL) and Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) home, located in Port Macquarie. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone ready to take the next step in their career and lead a committed team supporting NDIS participants.
This role is structured as a four-day-per-week position:
Three days per week, providing direct support to participants, and
One full day per week is allocated to leadership, administrative duties, and supervision of staff.
About the Role
As the Team Leader, you will:
Provide hands-on support to participants with high physical support needs and complex medical needs in an SDA/SIL setting.
Lead and support a team of disability support workers, promoting a human rights framework and person-centred practices.
Provide staff supervision, mentoring, and debriefing to foster a supportive and high-performing team environment.
Oversee and complete administrative responsibilities, including incident follow-up, documentation, and contributing to rosters and reporting.
Implement and model positive behaviour support strategies aligned with individualised Positive Behaviour Support Plans (PBSPs).
Support participants with personal care (hygiene, medication, meals, domestic tasks), and promote meaningful community engagement and inclusion.
Work within a 24-hour care model, including a mix of morning, afternoon, and overnight shifts (both active and sleepover).
About You
You will bring:
Proven experience in the disability sector, particularly in SIL and/or SDA environments.
A minimum qualification of Certificate III in Individual Support is required. Qualifications in Assistance in Nursing (AIN), as an Enrolled Nurse (EN), or a Diploma in Community Services will be highly regarded.
Demonstrated experience supporting individuals with high physical support needs and complex medical needs.
Skills and knowledge in implementing behaviour support plans, mentoring staff in behaviour strategies, and promoting positive interactions.
Strong leadership capabilities and a commitment to fostering team development and professional growth.
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with confidence in completing administrative tasks, documentation, and incident management.
A person-centred, strengths-based approach to support and leadership.
