This purpose driven role is pivotal in leading a team of Disability Support Workers to deliver high-quality, person-centred services to our client base.
You will be responsible for ensuring the effective operation of your assigned caseload, the team, overseeing the implementation of support plans and fostering a supportive environment for both clients and staff.
Success in this role is demonstrated by a well-supported, high-performing team that consistently delivers inclusive, safe, person-centred and rights based support. The Team Leader builds strong, respectful relationships with colleagues, clients and stakeholders; ensures compliance with NDIS and organisational standards; and contributes to a positive workplace culture where staff feel valued, and people with disability are empowered to achieve their goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Team Leadership & Supervision:
Lead, supervise, and support a team of Disability Support Workers to provide outstanding care and support.
Ensure that team members are supported in their roles and are motivated to perform to the best of their abilities.
Provide guidance, training, and support to the team, addressing any concerns and escalating issues to the Client Services Coordinator/Client Services Manager as necessary.
Support Delivery:
Have a comprehensive knowledge of supports and services available. Oversee the delivery of individual support plans, protocols and work instructions ensuring they are followed effectively.
Work closely with clients to understand their needs and challenges.
Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to think strategically and implement effective solutions
Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration:
Establish and maintain strong relationships with health professionals and other stakeholders to ensure integrated care for participants.
Liaise with families, carers, and other professionals to monitor and adjust plans as needed.
Understands significant stakeholder relationships and their importance
Compliance & Documentation:
Ensure all services are compliant with relevant legislation, regulations, and company policies.
Maintain accurate records of support provided, complete mandatory reporting, and ensure all documentation is up to date and of a high standard.
Proficient in record-keeping, report writing and data analysis
Quality Improvement:
Continuously assess and improve the quality of supports provided by the team.
Identify opportunities for training and development to improve team performance and support delivery standards.
About You:
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and experience:
Leadership Experience: At least 1 year of experience in a leadership or supervisory role in the disability or healthcare sector.
Qualifications: Certificate III in Disability (or higher qualification) or relevant experience in the health, aged or disability sector.
Strong Communication Skills: Ability to effectively communicate with participants, families, support teams, and other stakeholders, particularly in challenging situations.
Person-Centred Approach: A strong understanding and commitment to delivering support that is centred on the individual, promoting dignity and respect. Demonstrated resilience and patience, with the ability to work with complex behaviours
Organisational Skills: Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Ability to be proactive, showing initiative and possess strong problem-solving skills
Essential Requirements:
Relevant qualifications (Cert III) and equivalent experience in disability services industry
Demonstrated knowledge of NDIS practice standards and NSW Restrictive Practice legislation & protocols
NSW Driver’s License: A current NSW Driver’s License (or equivalent)
Current First Aid/CPR Certificate
Must have an NDIS Worker Check Clearance (employee responsibility)
Completion of NDIS Worker Orientation & Supporting Effective Communication modules (NDIS Commission website)
Current and clear Working with Children Check (Employee) or be able to obtain one prior to commencement of employment (employee responsibility)
