This position is a fixed term full-time opportunity commencing 6 October 2025 for a period of 12 months with the possibility of extensions and/or permanency.
About the Role
As a Senior Environmental Officer, you will be required to work as part of a small, high performing team to coordinate and implement environmental and bushfire research and technical advisory activities to promote environmental protection and enhance bushfire management activities, statewide.
You will support community-centred bushfire prevention initiatives, enhance bushfire management practices, and provide advice and consultative services to promote environmental protection.
You will also need to be outcome focused to achieve strategic priorities, work effectively and negotiate with key stakeholders in challenging environments, provide support and advice to staff and have an excellent attention to detail to achieve desired outcomes within strict timeframes.
We are looking for someone who:
Has experience supervising a small team.
Uses their initiative to solve problems.
Communicates complex information in a way that is easy to understand.
Builds and maintains relationships with a range of stakeholders.

Eligibility To Apply
You must be an Australian Citizen or hold permanent residency to be considered for permanent appointments or hold a working visa covering the term of the contract (proof must be provided with your application) to be eligible for this position
National Police Certificate
A condition of employment for new employees of DFES is that a current National Police Certificate (less than 3 months old) is provided prior to commencement.
