About Us:
Melbourne Spiegel Haus is an exciting new 1000+ pax hospitality and cultural precinct in the heart of Melbourne’s CBD - opening this October.
Featuring a stunning 120-year-old Spiegeltent for immersive theatre, a huge rooftop bar, and versatile activation spaces for shows, festivals, and corporate events, the Spiegel Haus precinct will become synonymous with Melbourne's hospitality scene.
Blending world-class theatre, stunning live performances, festival partnerships, and premium hospitality, join us in crafting Melbourne's next iconic cultural destination.
The Role:
We're looking for an experienced Venue Manager to lead operations across this multifaceted precinct.
You’ll oversee hospitality, theatre operations, and event activations, ensuring seamless execution and unforgettable guest experiences.
This is a hands-on leadership role, perfect for someone who thrives in high-energy venues and wants to be a major part of a uniquely Melbourne project.
But this role isn't just about management - it's about creating something special and establishing Spiegel Haus as the city's most exciting new destination.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead day-to-day operations across the precinct (theatre spaces, bars, activation areas)
Oversee, roster and mentor a diverse on-site team (supervisors, bartenders, chefs, ushers, cleaners, techies, security, maintenance etc)
Directly manage two Assistant Venue Managers (AVM - Hospitality, and AVM - Theatre)
Manage inventory, equipment and supplier relationships
Own key metrics and ensure targets are hit - including bar revenue, COGS and labour KPIs
Ensure compliance with licensing, permits, RSA, safety and industry standards
Be hands-on during peak times (typically Thu-Sun and especially Fri-Sat)
About You:
Proven hospitality leadership in a high-volume venue (multi-space venue experience is preferred but not essential)
Strong financial acumen - confident managing budgets, cost control and revenue growth
Experience managing large teams and complex operations
Cool and logical under pressure - you thrive in a fast-paced, creative environment
Hands-on and happy to dive into whatever task is needed
Hospitality experience is a must - theatre experience is a bonus but not required for the right candidate
Why Spiegel Haus?
Be a core part of Melbourne's next hospitality institution, that will reshape the CBD's cultural landscape
A planned 9-month season with a 3-month off-season gives you time to reset, rest, or plan - and yes, you're paid for the full 12 months!
High autonomy, high impact role - with space to make your own mark on this iconic venue, from the ground up
Work with a top-tier and passionate hospitality and theatre team
Competitive salary, based on experience
