Hunter New England Local Health District (HNELHD) is seeking to appoint two Technical Officer (Biomedical) Grade 2 positions to join its Clinical Technology team—one based at John Hunter Hospital in Newcastle, and the other at Tamworth Hospital.
Located in Newcastle, NSW, John Hunter Hospital is a leading tertiary referral and teaching hospital, proudly serving as the principal trauma centre for northern New South Wales. Tamworth Hospital is the New England's largest regional hospital, recently refurbished to boast brand new, state of the art facilities.
Tamworth Hospital is a major Rural Referral Hospital providing services to the North-West area of NSW. In July 2015, the doors opened for to a new $220 million acute services redevelopment; equipped with 348 treatment spaces; conducting over 8000 surgical procedures per annum in over five theatre spaces.
About The Role:
The Biomedical Technician plays a crucial role in supporting the delivery of safe, effective patient care by ensuring that medical equipment is maintained, repaired, and tested to the highest standards. This position is responsible for the timely repair, preventive maintenance, and functional safety testing of medical equipment in accordance with AS/NZS 3551 standards.
Perform timely diagnosis and repair of medical equipment to minimise downtime and ensure continuity of clinical services.
Conduct routine testing and preventative maintenance of biomedical equipment to ensure compliance with AS/NZS 3551 standards for safety and performance.
Maintain accurate service records and documentation in accordance with HNELHD policies and regulatory requirements.
Liaise with clinical staff to understand equipment issues and provide technical support.
Participate in equipment commissioning and decommissioning processes.
Adhere to HNELHD safety standards, infection control policies, and risk management protocols.
About You:
A qualification from an Institute of TAFE at least equivalent to the AQF Certificate 4 level. Acceptable qualifications include Electronics & Communications Certificate, Associate Diploma in Electronics, Diploma in Electronics or Advanced Diploma in Electronics.
A team focused individual with above average communication skills and a responsible attitude that reflects the duty of care required in this position.
Exposure or experience in ICT Networks and medical equipment integration to electronic medical records systems, desirable.
Current NSW Drivers Licence and willingness to travel for work purposes.
