Start Beyond (www.startbeyond.co) is an industry-leading immersive content studio based in Sydney. We specialise in virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), and mixed reality spatial experiences, with a focus on producing cutting-edge projects for the training, education, and cultural spaces.

With an exciting 2025/26 ahead, we are looking for an experienced video production & post production all rounder to join our VR video production team, full time in the Sydney office from August / September 2025.

This is a senior role aimed at someone with > 6 years professional experience in roles such as editing, compositing, vfx and/or video production.

Overview:

Working under the supervision of the Head of Studio, your day to day tasks will involve:

Editing 2D and VR video

Working with 360° video formats

Encoding assets for VR and detailed QCing

Basic compositing tasks like keying and patching

Basic 2D motion graphics

Building VR experiences in E-Learning tools

Cutting 2D case studies and promotional materials

Building VR post production pipelines

Maintaining workstations and VR hardware

Organising, troubleshooting and operating VR camera gear

Project backups and archiving, working with servers

The skillsets listed above are expansive and we do not expect a candidate with senior skills in every area - if you are generally a strong all rounder in video production, we would encourage you to apply. This is a unique role which requires both a technical and creative mind. Ideal candidates will have an excellent affinity with technology and the ability to quickly learn new VR production techniques. Equally they will have the creative abilities to tell a story in an edit or cut together a punchy promo.

There will also be the opportunity to occasionally work on our shoots as a VR camera operator, so familiarity with camera and working on film shoots is an advantage.

Key Requirements:

Familiarity with VR and 360 video (you have used VR and are familiar with 360 videos).

Proficient in Premiere Pro and Adobe CC on Windows.

Familiarity with VR video formats (not essential but an advantage).

Comfortable in After Effects and Photoshop for basic design and motion.

Confident in performing compositing tasks like simple paint outs, masking, roto and green screen keying.

Familiarity with 3D file formats and a general understanding of computer graphics.

A strong understanding of encoding (bitrates, file formats etc).

Thorough, organised and have an exceptional attention to detail, quality control, and addressing feedback.

A proactive desire to constantly learn new technologies and evolving workflows.

Comfortable with basic camera gear and operation

Further skills that will likely be useful, though not essential:

3D/CG assets production (modelling, animation)

E-learning production

Familiarity with game engines, Unreal or Unity

Basic coding/scripting
