Salary:

  • Senior Psychologist - $119, 972 to $130,314 pa
  • Senior Specialist Psychologist - $140,655 - $148,932 pa
  • Plus Environmental Allowance, superannuation and annual leave loading

Corrective Services NSW is currently seeking a Senior Psychologist or Senior Specialist Psychologist for a 0.5 FTE ongoing role at Cooma Correctional Centre—a well-regarded regional facility in the Snowy Monaro Region of southern NSW. This opportunity has emerged due to internal staff movement and may grow as additional roles become available.

In addition to this part-time vacancy, we are also establishing a talent pool for psychologists interested in future full-time or part-time ongoing and temporary positions across the region.

About the Role

As a Senior Psychologist, you will:

  • Lead and supervise a team of Psychologists in delivering high-quality services to offenders
  • Provide expert clinical advice on complex and high-risk cases, including violent and sexual offenders
  • Deliver direct psychological interventions and manage complex case presentations
  • Provide regular individual and group supervision to psychologists and provisionally registered psychologist
  • Oversee the professional development and training of any teams you manage
  • Maintain accurate, compliant documentation in the CSNSW Psychology file, OIMS and other relevant systems
  • Liaise with stakeholders to ensure coordinated psychological service delivery

If application for Senior Specialist Psychologist grade is approved, you will also:

  • Manage the most complex cases and provide high-level consultation across the Centre
  • Drive research and service improvement initiatives
  • Contribute to clinical governance and innovation in psychological practice

What we're looking for

We want to hear from you if you have:

  • Proven expertise in correctional, forensic, or clinical psychology
  • Strong knowledge of contemporary correctional principles and risk assessment frameworks
  • Experience delivering psychological interventions for mental health, cognitive impairment, and behavioural needs
  • Demonstrated leadership, mentoring, and supervisory capabilities
  • Sound understanding of ethical, legal, and professional responsibilities in correctional psychology

Essential Requirements

  • Minimum four-year accredited qualification in Psychology
  • Full registration with the Psychology Board of Australia (AHPRA)
  • Eligible to supervise provisional psychologists and students as a Board Approved Supervisor
  • Current driver's licence and willingness to travel across NSW

Senior Specialist Psychologist Grade Applicants
For approved application to Senior Specialist Psychologist, applicants must demonstrate evidence of all additional characteristics as defined in the Crown Employees Psychologist Award.
