About the role
The Catholic Diocese of Sandhurst is seeking a dedicated and experienced Safety Officer to join their team. This is a full-time role based in Bendigo, Victoria. As the Diocesan Safety Officer, you will play a vital role in ensuring the Diocese operates in accordance with relevant regulatory requirements, while proactively managing risks and maintaining a safe working environment for all staff and stakeholders.
What you'll be doing
Developing, implementing and maintaining robust compliance frameworks and processes across the Diocese
Identifying, assessing and managing key organisational risks, and implementing appropriate mitigation strategies
Promoting the Diocese's health and safety and Safeguarding programs, including incident reporting, investigation and continuous improvement
Providing guidance and training to staff on compliance, risk and safety matters
Staying up-to-date with changes in relevant legislation, regulations and industry best practices
Assisting in the preparation of reports and presentations for senior management and key stakeholders
Collaborating with various teams and departments to foster a culture of compliance, risk awareness and safety consciousness
What we're looking for
Tertiary qualification in a relevant field, such as law, business, or risk management
Experience in a similar compliance, risk or safety role, preferably within a not-for-profit or religious organisation
Broad understanding of compliance, risk management and workplace health and safety and safeguarding frameworks, methodologies and best practices
Analytical approach with demonstrated analysis skills in quantitative data analysis and reporting.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to translate complex information into actionable insights
A knowledge of the Catholic Church and its structures.
An understanding of and willingness to work within the Catholic ethos.
