Payroll & Leave Specialist, Coffs Harbour NSW
Our local client is looking to expand their team, with a fulltime Payroll & Leave Specialist, who holds solid expertise in end to end payroll, including award interpretation, and long service leave calculations.

Details of the role:
Remuneration: $99,666 per annum + 12% superannuation
Provisioning: Work laptop, keyboard, mouse, monitor, headset
Office locations: Tweed Heads, Coffs Harbour and Lismore, with periodic travel required utilising a shared, company vehicle
Work type: Full time, permanent role commencing ASAP. Hybrid options will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Work hours: 7-hour day, 35-hour week, 70-hour fortnight. Business hours are generally between 8:30am - 4:30pm, or 9am - 5pm.

Our client has this vacancy due to an internal promotion.
This is a relatively new role and was created in early 2024 due to a growing workforce and to help alleviate pressure on the Senior Payroll Officer and Team Leader Payroll positions.
Our client uses EmpowerHR payroll software, and has approx. 3,500 staff on their payroll
Duties:
Processing of a high volume of payroll data with accuracy to meet required deadlines.
Manage Long Service Leave, ensure employees are receiving their correct entitlements and payments.
Apply knowledge of relevant provisions in the enterprise agreement and awards, CSO policies and procedures as they relate to payroll data.
Assess unusual circumstances, variations and incomplete or conflicting data and discuss possible solutions with relevant personnel.
Initiate contact with internal personnel to discuss and resolve problems.
Use MS Excel skills to ensure the accurate transfer of the data.
Work under the direction and instruction of the Team Leader, Payroll and follow identified steps, processes and methods to achieve the desired outcomes.
Participate in discussions regarding business practices that may require change, discussion or decisions
Handle complex payroll tasks like terminations, backpays, superannuation, taxation and other general calculations.
Under the direction of the Team Leader, Payroll, assist in updating payroll procedures and processes.
Undertake duties in the Team Leader, Payroll role as support and backup when required.
Work with the recruitment/HR team and other key stakeholders to achieve the goals and major objectives of the organisation.
Mandatory Requirements:
Qualifications in payroll or accounting or at least 3 years experience working in a large organisation (ideally as close to 3,500 staff as possible) with high volume payroll processing with end-to-end production knowledge and skills.
Demonstrated experience in the application of NSW Long Service Leave legislation.
Demonstrated above average skills in Microsoft Excel and other MS Office software.
Strong attention to detail with sound analytical and problem-solving skills.
Must be organised, efficient and able to multitask, with a drive to achieve continuous improvement in the overall payroll process.
Proven ability to interpret multiple and complex employee conditions such as awards, enterprise agreements as well as a sound understanding of current legislation such as superannuation, long service leave, Australian taxation and workers compensation.
Proven ability to work as an effective team member within a collaborative team environment.
Current Drivers Licence
Ability to pass a Police Check
Two work related reference checks
