Your Role
The Health Promotion Officer will provide guidance and motivation to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community to achieve their fitness goals, promoting healthy lifestyles and fostering cultural connection with fitness.
The Health Promotion Officer will promote preventative health under the guidance of the Health Promotion Coordinator to the community with a direct focus on delivering safe and effective exercise programs for community while also promoting a health lifestyles and preventative health education.
· Facilitate school and youth fitness education programs and events across all MDAS serviced areas
· Facilitate health and fitness community days and community events across all MDAS serviced areas
· Advising community through the promotion of initiatives in regard to health prevention.
Promote allied health services.
Key Selection Criteria
· Work to meet the objectives of the MDAS agreed Working Together for Health funding priorities and support the MDAS Health Promotion Action Plan where priorities align.
· Plan and roll out quarterly community days and events in alignment with the Health Promotions calendar.
· Work towards reducing population health inequities and enhance community well-being, through the planning, implementation and evaluation of evidence- informed health promotion activities.
· Provide education and create health promotion activities in the following priority areas: Smoking Cessation, Cancer prevention and screening, sexual health, oral health and eye health.
Qualification/s:
Experience delivering/ facilitating fitness programs to small groups, Or Certificate III or above in Fitness
Other Screening Requirements:
Valid Drivers License that allows you to drive in Australia.
Victorian Employee Working with Children Check card.
National Police Check.
