We are seeking an energetic, passionate and customer-centric Retail Assistant to join our team in Dandenong, Victoria on a full time basis.

You'll help create a welcoming shopping experience, assist our customers in finding their favorite ingredients, and ensure our store is well-stocked and organised.

The main duties associated with this role include:

Customer assistance - greeting customers and assisting them in locating grocery items and food ingredients

Sharing product knowledge, including recommendations for spices, lentils, flours, snacks, and other South Asian and international essentials

Cash register and check-out duties, including accurate operation of the point-of-sale (POS) system and safe cash handling

Ensuring shelves are neat, fully stocked and rotating products

Maintain cleanliness and food safety standards in all areas of the store

Other general shop tasks

This role also comes with opportunities to assist in other departments in our business

Key qualifications and skills:

Previous experience in grocery, supermarket or retail food environment is essential

Knowledge and genuine interest in Indian/Asian groceries and health foods is highly valued

Excellent customer service and communication skills

Ability to lift and move stock as needed

Attention to detail, especially with expiry dated and food safety

Candidates must have full working rights (38 hour week)

Approximate work hours:

8.30am to 4.00pm, totaling 38 hours per week

Given the position is for 38 hours per week, students and those with limited working rights need not apply.

Remuneration and benefits:

Full time ordinary hourly rate of $27.16 per hour (plus 12.0% superannuation) for Monday to Friday
