There is an opportunity for you to become part of the exciting tropical plant industries of the Northern Territory (NT). Working as part of a Territory-wide research development and extension (RD&E) team, you will be able to put your knowledge and skills into practice and contribute to advancing and servicing the needs of this vital economic sector.

The Department of Agriculture and Fisheries is seeking a Technical Officer to assist with research, development, and industry engagement to support the rapid development of broad acre cropping enterprises in the Darwin, Katherine and Douglas Daly regions in line with the commitments of the Northern Territory Government. We are looking for an experienced technical professional with the ability to support agricultural RD&E efforts. You must have demonstrated knowledge or experimental procedures and application of scientific rigour to research in a range of plant-based industries and demonstrated ability to conduct on-ground work with attention to detail for research and demonstration trials including monitoring, gathering and collating experimental data.

This position will involve regular travel by road to rural properties, therefore, the successful applicant will need to have a current drivers licence to drive a manual vehicle or the equivalent of a Northern Territory C class licence.

The successful applicant will be based in Katherine region of the Northern Territory.
