The Role

A Victorian State Government agency is seeking a Senior Dam Engineer for a contract until the end of January 2026, with a strong possibility of extension. This role will support regulatory oversight of tailings and slimes dams across the state. You'll lead technical reviews, site inspections, and guideline development to ensure dam safety, sustainability, and compliance with industry standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead audits, inspections, and regulatory reviews of tailings and slimes dams
• Review and update technical guidelines in line with ANCOLD and industry best practice
• Provide expert advice on tailings risk assessment, design methods (e.g. dry stacking), and work plan assessments
• Develop and maintain risk mitigation strategies and post-failure recovery plans

About You

• Experienced engineer with specialist knowledge in dam design, tailings, and slimes storage
• Familiarity with ANCOLD TSF guidelines and risk assessment frameworks
• Demonstrated ability to communicate complex technical information clearly and effectively
• Proven experience conducting audits, inspections, and regulatory oversight
