The City of Karratha is seeking a proactive and motivated Senior Ranger to play a key leadership role within our high-performing Ranger Services team. This position is your opportunity to make a real impact — not just enforcing the law, but also educating, engaging, and empowering our community to create a safe and vibrant city for all.
About the Role
As Senior Ranger, you'll be responsible for leading day-to-day Ranger operations, guiding and mentoring team members, and supporting the Coordinator with planning, compliance, and community education. This is a diverse and hands-on role where no two days are the same — from animal control and off-road patrols to stakeholder engagement and emergency response support.
What You'll Do
- Provide operational leadership and support to the Ranger team
- Mentor and coach staff in inspections, investigations, and community interactions
- Lead by example in delivering high-quality compliance, education, and enforcement
- Represent Ranger Services with external stakeholders such as WA Police and emergency agencies
- Assist in developing and delivering proactive community education campaigns
- Act as Coordinator when required
What You'll Bring
- Proven leadership and mentoring experience in a compliance or local government environment
- Strong understanding of legislation relevant to Ranger Services and enforcement processes
- Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills
- Regulatory Officer Compliance Skills 1 and 2 (Municipal Law A and B)
- Current C Class driver’s licence
- A commitment to safety, community service, and continuous improvement
- Desirable extras include four-wheel driving, animal handling, firearm safety, and experience with reptiles or fire control.
