We are seeking an experienced and proactive Grounds & Maintenance Officer to join our team at The Henry Canberra, a retirement village nestled in the picturesque suburb of Higgins in Belconnen ACT.

In this hands on role, you will take pride in maintaining both the village buildings and beautiful gardens, ensuring a safe, clean and pleasant environment for our residents and guests.

Your Responsibilities

As a key member of our maintenance team, your duties will include, but are not limited to:

Performing general repairs and maintenance (e.g. carpentry, tiling, painting, plastering, minor plumbing issues and labouring)

Carrying out scheduled preventative maintenance in line with checklists

Maintaining the grounds (e.g. fertilising, mulching, raking, sweeping, whipper snipping, trimming, weeding and spraying of pesticides/herbicides)

Managing and responding to work orders via our maintenance app

Completing work orders independently and efficiently within set timeframes

Supporting the Management Team with various operational tasks as required

About You

We are seeking someone who brings both technical skills and a resident focused attitude. To be successful in this role, you will have:

Minimum of two year’s experience in a similar maintenance or groundskeeping role

Good physical fitness and the ability to perform manual tasks

Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions

Strong communication and interpersonal skills

A respectful and empathic approach to interacting with residents and work colleagues

Ability to work independently as well as part of a team

Problem solving skills and attention to detail

A valid driver’s licence and proof of Australian work rights

Please note: If successful, a current National Police Check and Working With Vulnerable People (WWVP) card are required.
