Program Officer - WorkWell
- $133,944.00 per annum + 12% superannuation
- Full Time, 12-month fixed term opportunity
- Wadawurrung/Geelong Location - Hybrid (minimum 3 days in the Geelong office is required)
Purpose
These roles support the delivery of the WorkWell Program, a large scale, multi-pronged program that supports WorkSafe's strategic objectives to reduce harm and improve health and safety outcomes for Victorian workers.
WorkWell supports employers to prevent mental injuries and promote safe and mentally healthy workplaces. WorkWell takes a system level, prevention-based approach to address the root causes of poor mental health. In doing so, we build evidence and share knowledge about what it takes to influence behaviours and implement systems to create psychologically healthy and safe workplaces.
About the role
The Program Officer supports the development and implementation of WorkWell.
Program Officers in WorkWell form part of a flexible resource pool that work under the direction of a Program Manager. Typically, they work in multi-disciplinary project teams to develop, implement, manage and evaluate projects that are designed to address complex problems to assist the Health and Safety Business Unit to deliver the Health and Safety Strategy.
Program Officers partner with other parts of the Health and Safety Business Unit to assist in delivering technical, regulatory or operational projects as required. They may provide mentoring and coaching to project officers, as required.
Key Accountabilities
- Work in multiple project or program teams within WorkWell and across WorkSafe. Collaborate with members of the team and lead the scoping, design, development and management of projects. The team may be drawn from across the business or from contracted providers to bring the technical and/or operational knowledge required for the project.
- Seek the input of internal and external stakeholders to build shared ownership. This may involve facilitating meetings and workshops and using co-design principles.
- Facilitate development of program logic models for projects. Following endorsement of the program logic, collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to scope projects and document the purpose, timelines, activities to be delivered, accountabilities and key milestones.
- Work with relevant internal business partners and external agencies to obtain, analyse and interpret available data required to scope projects, inform decision making and make recommendations.
- Undertake work identified in project plans and/or co-ordinate with other parts of WorkSafe to deliver on projects. Report on progress against the project plan. Build in review points to determine if the projects or programs are on track or require adjustment.

Skills and experience
- Experience working in system level behaviour change.
- Experience working in public health or health promotion.
- End to end project design, management and evaluation and monitoring skills.
- Experience translating evidence into practice and distilling complex concepts into easy-to-understand information.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong stakeholder management (internal & external).
The successful candidates will build upon the broader WorkWell skills base. Complementary skills and experience in monitoring and evaluation, change management, systems thinking, innovation and grants management will also be viewed favourably.
Qualifications
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in a related discipline (e.g. public health, health promotion, OHS, health sciences)
