Purpose

These roles support the delivery of the WorkWell Program, a large scale, multi-pronged program that supports WorkSafe's strategic objectives to reduce harm and improve health and safety outcomes for Victorian workers.

WorkWell supports employers to prevent mental injuries and promote safe and mentally healthy workplaces. WorkWell takes a system level, prevention-based approach to address the root causes of poor mental health. In doing so, we build evidence and share knowledge about what it takes to influence behaviours and implement systems to create psychologically healthy and safe workplaces.

About the role

The Program Officer supports the development and implementation of WorkWell.

Program Officers in WorkWell form part of a flexible resource pool that work under the direction of a Program Manager. Typically, they work in multi-disciplinary project teams to develop, implement, manage and evaluate projects that are designed to address complex problems to assist the Health and Safety Business Unit to deliver the Health and Safety Strategy.

Program Officers partner with other parts of the Health and Safety Business Unit to assist in delivering technical, regulatory or operational projects as required. They may provide mentoring and coaching to project officers, as required.

  • Seek the input of internal and external stakeholders to build shared ownership. This may involve facilitating meetings and workshops and using co-design principles.
  • Facilitate development of program logic models for projects. Following endorsement of the program logic, collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to scope projects and document the purpose, timelines, activities to be delivered, accountabilities and key milestones.
  • Work with relevant internal business partners and external agencies to obtain, analyse and interpret available data required to scope projects, inform decision making and make recommendations.
  • Undertake work identified in project plans and/or co-ordinate with other parts of WorkSafe to deliver on projects. Report on progress against the project plan. Build in review points to determine if the projects or programs are on track or require adjustment.
