Do you want to be at the forefront of innovative interventions for family and domestic violence? Breathing Space is a world first and unique residential program for men who choose to use violence in their relationships. The program has been running for 20 years and is at the forefront of men’s behaviour change interventions.

The program is delivered in a secure and supportive therapeutic setting and provides psychoeducational group work, counselling, case management and advocacy. This approach supports victim survivors, including children, to remain in their homes and in connection with their support networks, to maximise their safety.

The Role

We have an exciting opportunity for a Specialist Behaviour Change Facilitator to join our residential Breathing Space Program.

Your key responsibilities include:

Facilitation of group work for men who choose to use violence in intimate relationships and support them to work towards positive change.

Contribute To risk assessments, safety planning, case notes and report writing.

Establishing and maintaining effective working and therapeutic relationships

Managing crisis and emotional distress of clients

This position will be located in Calista and offered on a permanent part time basis working a minimum of 66.5 hours a fortnight.

The service operates 24/7, and working patterns include a combination of morning, afternoon, evening, and sleep shifts, including regular weekend working. Rosters are based on business needs and subject to change. The successful candidate must be flexible and able to adapt to a fast-paced environment. Specific shift times will be discussed during the interview process.

Selection Criteria

Tertiary qualification and/or experience in a relevant field, with family and domestic violence or men's behaviour change highly regarded.

Group facilitation skills.

Ability to respond to challenging behaviours and understand the origins of these behaviours when working with clients.

Cultural competency to engage effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, culturally and linguistically diverse populations, and people with disabilities.

Advanced communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills.

Relevant experience in a similar role, including individual support, case management and group facilitation (desirable).

Unrestricted driver's licence, Police clearance, Working With Children Check.

Willingness to obtain a Department of Justice Clearance if required.
