About us

The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP) is responsible for training, educating and representing psychiatrists in Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand. The College is accredited by the Australian Medical Council (AMC) and the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ) to deliver specialist medical education and training, and professional development programs. The College is committed to elevating healthcare outcomes for Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander, and Māori communities guided by its commitments to reconciliation and Te Tiriti o Waitangi.

About the role

We’re looking for a dynamic and strategic leader to join us as Manager, Partnerships on a permanent, full-time basis.

In this role, you’ll lead a passionate and committed team driving the implementation of key College strategies that elevate the voices of people with lived and living experience within the mental health sector, support meaningful First Nations engagement, and foster the inclusion of overseas trained psychiatrists.

This is a senior leadership position, working closely with the Executive Manager, Partnerships and Engagement. You’ll act as their deputy and play a unifying role across the department, ensuring alignment, clarity, and purposeful collaboration across all program areas.

With responsibility for a team of seven, you’ll oversee work that supports representative committees, advances the College’s Reconciliation Action Plan (2024–2026), and contributes to embedding cultural safety across our organisation.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a high-performing team, setting clear direction and driving delivery on strategic and operational plans.
  • Support the implementation of the Lived and Living Experience Strategy and the Reconciliation Action Plan across the College.
  • Provide strategic and operational support to Partnership and Representative committees, ensuring meaningful engagement and measurable outcomes.
  • Build and maintain strong partnerships with internal and external stakeholders, particularly community and member-based groups.
  • Ensure sound governance, financial oversight, and committee operations, including elections, reporting and compliance processes.

For more details, please refer to the Position Description via the "Apply Now" button.

What you'll bring

  • Strong leadership and staff management capabilities, with demonstrated success in leading hybrid teams.
  • A high level of empathy and proven ability to engage effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders, including First Nations communities and/or people with lived and living experience within the mental health sector.
  • Experience working with First Nations communities and/or people with lived experience of mental illness.
  • High-level written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work with complex committees and community groups.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or demonstrated management experience, ideally within a membership, health, or not-for-profit organisation.

Some of what’s on offer:

  • Salary range from $105,099 to $131,348 total remuneration package (TRP) is on offer, inclusive of leave loading and 12% superannuation.
  • A paid day off each month for full-time employees.
  • 12 weeks of gender-neutral paid parental leave for both primary and secondary caregivers.
  • A values-led, inclusive, and culturally safe workplace where diversity is celebrated.
  • The chance to be part of a passionate team working to improve mental health outcomes.
  • Purpose-driven work that makes a meaningful difference to communities across Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand.
