Senior Policy Officer
At the NSW Department of Education, we educate and inspire lifelong learners - from early childhood, through schooling to vocational education and training.
- 2 x ongoing ful time & 1 x Temporary Full-Time up to 31 March 2026, with the potential to extend
- Located in Eveleigh with flexible working arrangements available)
- Competitive salary of $129,464 - $142.665 pa plus superannuation and leave loading
About the role
The Senior Policy Officer role manages and coordinates the development and implementation of a range of policy initiatives and strategic projects that contribute to the successful delivery of policy related initiatives that support agency and/or government commitments.
Core role functions include leading the development of policy projects and strategic projects, preparation of Cabinet submissions and advice, develop strong stakeholder relationships, and oversee the preparation of briefings, reports and papers for Executive approval.
We are seeking applications from potential candidates with an interest in leading end-to-end key infrastructure related policy and strategic organisational projects, including to research complex issues, undertake robust analysis and prepare evidence based and recommendations, stakeholder engagement, problem solving, and project management. As a senior role in the team, we are seeking a leader with experience managing and mentoring staff.
The role itself sits within the Policy and Business Strategy (PBS) team in the School Infrastructure division.

About you
- Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the Department's Aboriginal Education Policy and upholding the Department's Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.
Essential requirements of the role
- Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or demonstrated equivalent experience working in a policy environment.
- Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the value of public education.

This option would allow the WWCC to naturally expire without further communication needed with the employee. The employer obligations under the WWCC would apply for duration of the WWCC's validity (up to 5 years)
