Ashmore State School Outside School Hours Care service is owned and operated by the Ashmore Primary School P&C Association. Ashmore P&C OSHC strives to provide high quality care to children from Prep to Year 6. Ashmore P&C OSHC is licensed to operate before, afternoon and vacation care in a stimulating, safe and engaging environment that meets the needs, abilities, and interests of the children both enrolled into Ashmore State School and the surrounding community.
Primary Purpose of Role: As a Senior Educator/Responsible Person of our service, your primary role is to provide support and assistance to other service educators, to ensure that service operates efficiently and safety in conjunction with service procedures, policies and current legislation and laws and to ensure the service provides a high quality care program each session for the children who are attending. Also related to this role, you will be required to provide, assist, and develop service programs in conjunction with the services currently educational leader.
Reporting Structure: The Senior Educator/Responsible Person is accountable to the Nominated Supervisors, OSHC Director and the P&C Executive Committee (Approved Provider). The Senior Educator/Responsible Person will work under the guidance of the Director and in conjunction with other Responsible Persons of the service.
General Responsibilities and Duties:
Support the inclusion of children with additional needs, including children with disabilities, children with complex health support needs, Aboriginal children, and children from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds;
Be aware of the importance of modelling good language/attitudes and develop positive, respectful relationships with children, providing them with effective individual guidance using appropriate techniques and strategies;
Value children's perspectives by facilitating opportunities for, and enabling them to express their views and ideas in appropriate ways, thereby encouraging child empowerment, leadership and voice;
Demonstrate knowledge of workplace health and safety as well as environmental safety requirements, taking appropriate action to ensure consistent practice and compliance, especially in relation to children's supervision, health and safety;
Maintain confidentiality of all information relating to families and children and refer parents who might express a concern to the Director who has sole responsibility for communicating with parents on such matters;
Attend staff meetings and contribute through sharing observations on children, clarifying roles and responsibilities, determining actions to be taken in case of emergencies, and contributing new ideas;
Commit to ongoing professional growth and performance improvement in support of a culture of continuous learning in the workplace;
Support opportunities to actively engage with the community in ways that support the service and enhance experiences for the children.
Additional Responsibilities and Duties:
* Be able to plan, implement and evaluate programs through a strong knowledge and understanding of the National Quality Standards (NQS) and My Time Our Place Framework for Outside School Care Hours.
* Prior leadership or skills within this role or similar role.
* Able to engage children through activities and experiences to assist them in future developing their abilities and skills that they have previously learnt.
* Can work independently, as well as part of a team and is open to different views, receptive to feedback and reflects upon best practice in themselves and services practices, policies and procedures relating to Area One of the National Quality Standard.
Key Selection Criteria
* Completed relevant qualifications in childcare or teaching sectors (Minimum Certificate Three Level Qualification).
* Hold a current working with children check (Blue Card) and First aid qualifications and CPR.
* Have or by willing to undertake a current Australian Police History Check.
* Have or be willing to obtain a CHCPRT025 in child protection training.
* Have similar experience in the role of a Responsible Person or Lead Educator.
* Have practical knowledge of current industry regulations, legislations, laws, Framework and NQS.
* Preferred experience in managing and using the childcare software system Hubworks.
Requirements: If applying for this role, must have a minimum of a Certificate Three level qualification or working towards this qualification, a Current Senior First Aid qualification including, CPR, Asthma and Anaphylaxis management. A current valid Blue Card/Exemption Card issued by the Queensland Government.
Hours of Work: The service operates from 6:30am to 9:00am for Before School Care, 3:00pm-6:30pm for Afternoon School Care and 6:30am-6:30pm for Vacation Care. Successful applicant must be available five days a week during the hours of 6:30am to 6:30pm. Must also be available to work during school holiday periods during the hours of 6:30am to 6:30pm. Hours per week 25 hours. Position to start as soon as possible or can be negotiated upon being the successful applicant.
