About the role:
Melville Cares is looking for a dedicated and compassionate Support Worker - Social Support Group for 4 days per week: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, who will work under the guidance of the Coordinator at our Friendship Club/Day centre, and will be responsible for the smooth operation of the Friendship Club, fostering an environment of social engagement, independence, and lifelong learning.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide social support to clients and carers through: Communication and responding to their needs; Focusing on the welfare, safety and comfort of clients whilst under our care; Maintain a confidential and professional manner with staff and clients;
- Assist clients with personal care needs.
- Work in a manner that enables the smooth running of the day to support an efficient and effective service.
- Actively participate in preparation and planning of meaningful activities that provide opportunities for clients to engage in the environment and supports independence.
- Encourage an environment that promotes spontaneity and supports dignity of choice, including activity and menu planning with clients.
- Ensure each client is engaged by offering activities to suit their abilities and preferences, by developing a thorough understanding of the clients’ needs and abilities.
- Operate as an effective team member, with a proven ability to work unsupervised.
- Demonstrated ability to plan and manage workload.
- Operate in line with Melville Cares Values, Vision and Purpose.
Essential Criteria:
- Certificate III, or equivalent, in Individual Support (Ageing) or related qualification.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach.s
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and IT.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to drive a company 12-seater bus (training provided).
