About the role

We are seeking an experienced Cafe Head Chef to join our team at Blooming Cafe Bankstown. As our Cafe Head Chef, you will be responsible for leading and managing our kitchen, creating delicious and innovative menu items, and ensuring the highest standards of food quality and presentation. This is a full-time role based in Bankstown, NSW.

This role requires availability for early morning starts and weekend shifts

What you'll be doing

Oversee the daily operations of the kitchen, including scheduling, staff management, and food preparation

Develop and implement new menu items, ensuring they align with the cafe's brand and customer preferences

Ensure all food items are prepared to the highest standards of quality, consistency, and presentation

Maintain strict adherence to food safety and hygiene regulations

Collaborate with the management team to optimise kitchen efficiency and profitability

Train, mentor, and supervise the kitchen staff to enhance their skills and performance

Monitor food costs and waste, and implement cost-saving measures as needed

What we're looking for

Minimum 3-5 years of experience as a Head Chef or in a similar senior culinary role, preferably in a cafe or restaurant environment

Strong understanding of food preparation, menu planning, and kitchen operations

Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a kitchen team

Thorough knowledge of food safety and hygiene regulations, and a commitment to maintaining high standards

Creativity and problem-solving skills to develop innovative menu items and optimise kitchen operations

Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with the management team

Relevant qualifications in culinary arts or a related field

Must have permanent right to work in Australia

Proven experience managing high-volume breakfast service in a cafe setting
