VALE Partners have been engaged by an innovative, data-driven technology company to find their next Senior Data Engineer. You'll be joining a fully-remote team on a mission to build a world-class data platform that will transform their industry.

This is a crucial role where you will have a significant influence over the platform's technical and strategic direction. You will be responsible for building a high-performing, scalable, and easily maintainable data pipeline from the ground up, operating in a fast-moving and highly autonomous environment.

Role Overview

• Architect and build a modern, high-performing data platform in Azure, with a focus on near real-time streaming and high accuracy.
• Design, develop and optimise resilient data pipelines using tools like Databricks (or similar), dbt (or equivalent), Python and SQL.
• Develop and manage data models and ETL/ELT workflows to ensure data is accessible, accurate, and reliable.
• Refactor and improve existing data services, addressing critical performance and scalability challenges to support analytics and AI capabilities.

What You'll Ideally Have

• 7+ years of backend or data engineering experience, with a proven track record of shipping reliable and scalable solutions.
• Strong, hands-on expertise with Python (including Pandas) and advanced SQL.
• Proven experience architecting and building data platforms in a cloud environment (preferably Azure) using tools like Databricks and dbt or similar.
• A bias towards shipping and learning, with the ability to balance speed with a high-quality bar.
