The Role
This newly created role is a great opportunity for a commercially-minded and resilient Senior Legal Counsel to step into a key leadership position. As the first in-house legal hire, you’ll build internal legal capability, support risk management, and provide practical advice across functions like Finance, Procurement, and Operations. It’s a hands-on, strategic role requiring sound judgment, independence, and a strong commercial lens.

Key Responsibilities

• Providing practical, timely legal advice across commercial, employment, and compliance matters
• Drafting and negotiating supplier and commercial agreements
• Supporting HR with employment law and policy guidance
• Leading contract negotiations and helping manage legal risk across business units
• Building legal awareness and confidence across non-legal stakeholders
• Reducing reliance on external legal providers

Skills & Experience
We’re looking for someone with:

• 6–10 years post-qualification legal experience
• Background in commercial law, with solid contract and risk expertise
• In-house experience or secondments highly regarded
• Understanding of employment law and regulatory compliance
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills
• A proactive, pragmatic, and solutions-focused mindset
• Experience in manufacturing, FMCG, or supply chain-heavy industries is a plus
