Senior Legal Counsel – Mining & Resources Sector

We are seeking a Senior Legal Counsel with a solid background in mining, resources, or related heavy industries to provide strategic legal and regulatory advice across a broad spectrum of corporate and commercial activities. This role involves close collaboration with executive leadership, joint venture partners, and external counsel, supporting complex transactions, compliance, governance, and risk management initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide strategic legal advice aligned with operational and regulatory requirements specific to the mining and resources sector.
• Lead legal negotiations and conduct risk assessments and due diligence for industry-relevant transactions.
• Manage external legal counsel to support business, compliance, and governance matters.
• Support joint venture governance and maintain strong stakeholder relationships within mining and resource operations.
• Deliver legal training and compliance guidance, staying ahead of legislative changes impacting the sector.
• Assist with corporate secretarial duties and maintain legal records in line with governance standards.
• Collaborate across divisions and jurisdictions, including coordination with international legal teams.

About You:

• Admitted to practice law in Australia with 7–15 years’ experience.
• Demonstrated expertise in corporate law within the mining, oil & gas, or broader resources sector is essential.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
• Highly organised, proactive, and able to work independently and collaboratively.
