The Opportunity

We're looking for an experienced Accounts Payable Officer to take on a role with a project perspective. Alongside the day-to-day AP duties, you'll play a key part in a project to improve our financial systems and processes.

Reporting to the Senior Finance Manager, you'll help us roll out a new Optical Character Recognition (OCR) system to automate invoicing and will work to standardise our AP processes across the business. This is a great chance to blend your accounting skills with project work and make a real impact on how we operate, setting us up for a potential future shared services model.

What You'll Do

Handle all aspects of the accounts payable cycle, including processing supplier invoices accurately, matching them to purchase orders, preparing payment runs, and answering supplier questions.

Take the lead from an AP perspective on our new OCR system implementation. This includes testing the software, helping to refine it, and supporting its rollout to automate how we capture invoice details.

Review how we currently handle accounts payable in different parts of the business. You'll then help create and implement a single, standard way of working that's efficient and ready for a shared services setup.

Perform key reconciliations for supplier statements, bank accounts, and corporate credit cards. You'll also help with month-end closing and report on aged payables and project milestones.

Work closely with the Procurement, IT, and operational teams to ensure a smooth rollout of the new processes and system, providing training and support where needed.

Help monitor daily banking activities and provide accurate supplier payment data for the company's cash flow forecast.

Make sure all AP activities follow company policies, especially around supplier information and payment security.

What You'll Bring

Qualifications in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or be working towards one).

At least 3 years of experience in an Accounts Payable or similar finance role.

Proven experience in improving processes or helping implement new systems is a big plus.

Experience with OCR or other finance automation software is highly regarded.

Solid skills with ERP systems and online banking platforms.

A genuine interest in finding better ways to do things, with good analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.

Great communication skills and the ability to work well with different people across the business, helping them adapt to new processes.
