Our client is a large Federal Government department that supports millions of Australians - they are at the forefront of government service delivery and are building world class digital platforms and capabilities

The Product Owner will work closely with User Researchers and a cross-functional delivery team to create and improve digital products and services; ensuring they meet user needs

This is a hybrid role and can be based in Canberra, Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide or Melbourne

Responsibilities:

• Lead and motivate multi-disciplinary teams towards effective use of agile and human-centred values, principles and practices
• Be the voice of the customer, ensuring their needs and interests are understood and met
• Ensure products and solutions meet business goals and oversee quality assurance practices
• Scope and prioritise activities based on customer value and business need
• Ensure the product is accessible to everyone
• Work closely with design and technology to ensure the product is valuable, viable, usable and feasible
• Collaborate with enablers and project stakeholders
• Work with senior staff to plan for and implement effective agile team structures; ensuring their offerings are supported and enhanced to create a continuous flow of value
• Drive a culture of strategic focus to implement agency priorities
• Act as a product evangelist to build awareness and understanding of product

Skills and Experience:

Essential:

1. More than 3 years Product management experience - leading multi-disciplinary teams particularly through Discovery phase
2. Excellent understanding of human centred design
3. Knowledge of, or experience in, the DTA Whole of Government Service Design and Delivery Process (SDDP) and Digital Service Standard (DSS)
4. Demonstrated knowledge of or ability to quickly acquire knowledge of relevant frameworks, legislation, policies and procedures and applying these throughout product delivery
5. Must hold, or have ability to attain, Baseline Security clearance

Desirable:

1. Demonstrated knowledge and experience of product management approaches and agile methodologies
2. Demonstrated understanding and experience in using human centred design
3. Ability to lead and manage multi-disciplinary teams including user researchers, designers, developers and subject matter experts
4. Demonstrated experience with the Australian government’s Digital Experience Policy and toolkit, including the Service Design and Delivery Process (SDDP) and advocacy and driven approach to accessible design adhering to Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) AA compliance
