About the Opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Linux Engineer to join our dynamic Corporate Applications Team making a real difference in healthcare across NSW.

You’ll play a key role in managing, enhancing, and supporting both cloud-based and on-premises IT systems. You’ll be hands-on with the installation, configuration, and operational oversight of critical infrastructure, contributing to major IT projects with expert input and high-quality technical design. This role blends development and operations (DevOps), where you’ll collaborate closely with the wider team to handle incidents, implement changes, and drive strategic projects – all while ensuring alignment with our technical, security, and business architecture standards.

We currently have plans to transition to a hybrid model, involving both on-prem and public cloud usage, so the following skills are necessary: OpenLDAP, DNS, YUM Repositories, EXADATA’s and ZDLRA’s, NetApp, NFS, Oracle Linux Virtualisation Management (OLVM), Containerized Management, CFengine, and Ansible.

In this role, you will:

Contribute to the design, delivery, and documentation of high-level infrastructure solutions.

Provide technical leadership and input to resolve complex infrastructure related issues.

Implement automated procedures to improve operational capability, including self-service.

Drive improvements in service delivery aligned to industry trends and standards in DevOps tools.

Collaborate with key stakeholders and provide plain language advice on complex technical issues to non-technical audiences.

Set up performing monitoring metrics for infrastructure, including regular performance reporting to ensure we are operating to SLA’s.

About You

We are seeking a highly skilled and self-driven Senior Linux Systems Engineer to join our infrastructure team. This role is pivotal in managing and evolving our Oracle Linux-based on-prem environment as we transition to a hybrid infrastructure model incorporating public cloud platforms.

Key Responsibilities

Deploy, manage, upgrade, and patch core Linux services including:

OpenLDAP, DNS, YUM Repositories, NFS

Oracle Linux Virtualization Manager (OLVM)

Containerized environments

cfengine and Ansible

Administer and support EXADATA and ZDLRA systems, and NetApp storage solutions.

Demonstrate experience in public cloud infrastructure platforms such as Amazon Web Services, Azure, Google, and Oracle Cloud. Also, experience with technologies such as EC2, VPC, CloudFormation, CodeCommit, Systems Manager, Route 53, Load Balancers, and CodePipeline is required.

Develop and maintain automation scripts and infrastructure-as-code using tools like Ansible, Terraform, CFEngine, Puppet, Python, Unix Shell, and PowerShell.

Working knowledge as a L3-level support for Linux-centric systems, virtualization platforms, Windows Server, application packaging, patching, and networking.

Drive operational excellence in managing enterprise applications across a large and diverse IT environment.

A self-starter and proactive approach to ownership of tasks and drive them to successful completion with minimal supervision.
