Your role at St John of God Bunbury Hospital
SJG Bunbury in association with the McGrath Foundation is currently seeking Clinical Nurse with specialist breast care skills and training for an Advanced Breast McGrath Cancer Care Nurse. The role will see you provide specialist nursing care, information, education and support to patients diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer.
Advanced Breast McGrath Cancer Care Nurse acts as a clinical expert in advanced breast cancer and functions as a resource person to patients, families, and staff. The Advanced Breast McGrath Cancer Care Nurse will advise on health assessment, treatment pathways, referrals, and on-going coordination of care. The role provides leadership in the development and enhancement of specialist services for women and men presenting with Advanced Breast Cancer and facilitates innovative evidence-based practice, in accordance with clinical practice guidelines and the McGrath Model of Care.
The role will deliver a coordinated, evidenced-based, seamless, and patient focused approach to care through specialist educational resources for patients, carers, and staff. The patient -centred, holistic nursing care provided by the McGrath CCN is consistent with the approach underpinned by the McGrath Model of Care.
This is a three (3) year fixed term part-time role, working 60.8 hours per fortnight.
Shifts are Monday to Thursday from 8am to 4pm (start and finish times are flexible)
The Position:
- Acts as a role model and an expert clinician in services to patients with advanced breast cancer.
- Leads, establishes and reviews clinical guidelines in the area.
- Provides leadership in the ongoing review of current clinical practice, ensuring it is evidence based and benchmarked against peers to ensure best practice.
- Assesses the individual needs of the patient, their families and carers and co-ordinate relevant support services in hospital and/or the community including palliative care services.
- Works in collaboration with the breast care nurse.
- Acts as liaison with the oncology, radiation oncology, palliative care and allied health departments ensuring the continuity of care and services to patients with advanced breast cancer.
- Actively participates in the multidisciplinary team and contributes to treatment planning.
- Provides advice and answer queries regarding the care of patients who have advanced breast cancer.
You will hold current registration with Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA) as Registered Nurse with a minimum of 5 years' post registration experience in either surgical or medical oncology. In addition, you will hold a relevant post graduate qualification in breast care nursing or working towards same and have relevant experience in advanced practice with respect to management of women with breast cancer (and/or oncology nursing experience).
Workload will be mainly self-generated. You will be working alongside a team of 3 McGrath Cancer Care Nurses - Breast. Supported within this team along with the clinical supervision model provided by the McGrath Foundation.
The successful incumbent will be a highly skilled and motivated practitioner who will utilise expert skills, knowledge and experience to work as a member of the multidisciplinary health care team according to the complexity of care required and the individual need of the patients in their care.

- Salary: $103,883 to $110,954 per annum (pro-rata), plus 12% superannuation
