About the Opportunity
We are currently seeking a Senior Customer Service Officer who can support the Customer Service Supervisor in providing leadership and guidance to the Customer Service team, ensuring they are effectively motivated and trained to deliver an exceptional customer experience. This role will provide efficient, responsive and courteous customer service across a range of Council functions ensuring a positive customer service experience is provided to a diverse range of people.
The key service delivery of the role includes, but not limited to:
Provide advice and support to internal and external customers to ensure events are conducted in accordance with City of Darwin’s By-Laws, policies, regulations and relevant legislation. Inform customers of applicable fees for services requested in accordance with Council’s adopted Schedule of Rates.
Be proactive in problem solving and maintain a high standard of ethics in all matters.
Ensure an appropriate training program is implemented, shared and maintained to develop existing and new team members.
Actively contribute to the development and implementation of customer service measurement processes by maintaining accurate statistics.
Work professionally, cooperatively and respectfully with other team members to accomplish joint tasks and build positive working relationships.
Accurately undertake financial tasks, including processing, receipting, balancing, banking and refunds in accordance with guidelines.
Oversee efficient and accurate delivery of all cashiering functions including receipting and reconciliations and banking.
Provide a high level of customer service and communicate efficiently and sensitively.
The position has a base salary of $81,784.36 per annum plus superannuation. City of Darwin also provides generous leave entitlements such as pro rata of six (6) weeks annual leave and pro rata of fifteen (15) days personal leave.
To be considered for the role you must have:
Minimum of Certificate III in Local Government / Business Administration / Customer Services or equivalent qualification and/or experience.
Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a customer service role
Minimum of one (1) years’ experience in a senior customer services role, or demonstrated ability to lead, mentor and support a customer services team.

Drivers licence C Class
