Our client is a federal government organisation with offices throughout Australia. Due to growth, they are seeking an EL1 Data Architect to join their team in Richmond or Geelong.

• 12-month initial contract plus 12-month extension
• Hybrid with 3 days per week onsite
• Federal government role - Australian citizenship required

The role:
The EL1 Data Architect will be part of the project stream of the data warehouse platform. This includes updating data development documentation, providing technical guidance to developers and reviewing/approving data designs and data models.
The role will include providing thought leadership in data & reporting architecture, data modelling, design, integration as well as end-to-end data delivery lifecycle approaches.
The EL1 Data Architect will govern and advise on multiple data delivery initiatives and design and approve data delivery patterns.
The role will focus on collaborating with key business areas in the development and implementation of consumable reports and analytics to address key risks and emerging trends within these areas.
Key duties and responsibilities

• Set technical foundations for scalable, secure systems for enterprise data reporting.
• Designing the architecture for BI platforms, data models, and reporting layers.
• Defining standards for metrics, taxonomy, and visual reporting.
• Selecting and integrating BI tools and platforms.

• Provide technical leadership to the project delivery teams through design reviews, advising on implementation best practices, defining and refining release processes and technical workshops.
• Review and refine the BI data framework to enhance integration of new sources, performance of existing data delivery and rapid development of new subject areas.
• Provide guidance on Conceptual, Logical and Physical data models and strong experience in Data model tools like Erwin.

• Collaboration with data engineers to ensure ETL and data structures align.

• Collaboration with data consumers, data designers and analysts, testers and IT support teams.

• Supporting role-based access and data security within BI environments.
• Leading data source consolidation and dashboard standardisation.
• Enabling self-service analytics and end-user training.
• Scaling BI platforms to support organisational growth.

To apply you will need the following skills and experience:
Essential criteria

• Business Intelligence (BI) Expertise: Proficiency in using various BI tools (Tableau, Power BI, etc.) for data visualization and reporting.
• Data Warehousing Concepts: Deep understanding of Data Warehouse Architecture, Data Modelling Techniques, ELT and ETL Processes and SCD
• Data Warehousing Technologies Expertise: Any 2 of Teradata, Redshift, Snowflake, Data Bricks
• SQL Mastery: Deep knowledge of either SQL or Concepts
• Data Integration Tools: Proficient in ETL tools like, Talend, Informatics or DBT

Desirable criteria

• Cloud Platform: Strong knowledge of AWS, AZURE or GCP
• Data Modelling tool: knowledge of Erwin or Enterprise Architect
• Stakeholder Management and Soft Skills
• Scalability and Performance: Ability to design largescale data volume, performance, throughput and latency
