Duration: Full time, fixed term until 30 June 2026
Base Salary: $126,491 per annum (Admin 8.1) or $129,635 to $135,077 per annum (RN 5.1 to 5.2)
This position is identified for an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person and is intended to constitute a special measure under section 8 (1) of the Racial Discrimination Act 1975 (Cth), and section 57 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1996 (NT).

Who are we?
Established in 1991, Danila Dilba Health Service (DDHS) is an Aboriginal community-controlled organisation committed to providing culturally appropriate, comprehensive primary health care services and community development within the Biluru (Aboriginal) community of the Yilli Rreung (Greater Darwin) Region in the Northern Territory.
We work to address the social determinants of health including the broader issues that affect our people's health, through evidence-based research and public advocacy. We also work to empower individuals, families, and communities to optimise their health.
About the role
Lead the implementation of a primary health care service addressing urgent needs of homeless and transient individuals in Greater Darwin.
Responsibilities:
- Develop a plan for the establishment and operation of the primary health care service, in alignment with the goals and objectives of the initiative.
- Coordinate the recruitment and training of a multidisciplinary team, including healthcare professionals, social workers, and support staff, to provide comprehensive support to clients.
- Establish partnerships and collaborations with other service providers, community organisations, and government agencies to ensure holistic support for the target client group.
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the primary health care service, including scheduling, resource allocation, and quality assurance.
- Implement protocols and procedures to assess and address the immediate healthcare needs of clients, with a focus on providing timely and effective interventions.
- Facilitate access to essential services such as income support, transportation, shelter, and legal assistance for clients in need.
To be successful you will need:
Essential
- Minimum 3 years' experience in project management, preferably in the healthcare or social services sector.
- A formal qualification in a related field such as healthcare administration, healthcare management, nursing, public health, or a clinical discipline.
- Previous experience working in the Aboriginal Health Sector.
- Understanding of current health issues relevant to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, particularly with chronic disease.
- Demonstrated knowledge of primary health care principles, multidisciplinary team approaches, and social determinants of health.
- Strong management, leadership, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with diverse stakeholders and build partnerships.
- Excellent communication skills, including written and verbal communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
- Experience in program evaluation, data analysis, and performance measurement.
- Ability to work independently, prioritise tasks, and manage competing priorities in a dynamic environment.
- Understanding of cultural competency and sensitivity to the needs of diverse populations, including Indigenous communities.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, and guidelines related to healthcare service delivery in Australia.
What we offer:
- 6 weeks annual leave per annum
- 5 days paid leave during end of year shutdown period (on top of annual leave)
- Salary packaging of up to $15,990 per annum.
