We are seeking an energetic and visionary LOTE Coordinator (Italian) to lead our Languages Other Than English (LOTE) Program across the school. This is a unique opportunity to lead a program that not only nurtures a love of language in students but also engages families and celebrates cultural diversity within a progressive and innovative learning environment.

There are FIVE Key Result Areas that we will want you to deliver on:

Lead and Coach a Team: Lead the development of the LOTE – Italian program from Prep to Year 6, providing leadership and support to team members.

Champion ‘The Silkwood Way: Engage families, students and team members in learning through The Silkwood Way LOTE Program, supporting team members to work confidently and collaboratively.

Strengthen LOTE Opportunities: Increase and strengthen LOTE opportunities across campuses by collaborating with other departments, such as Events and Heads of School, to support the organisation and planning of school-wide cultural events, moments that matter, and activities that promote language learning and cultural understanding.

Planning and Resourcing: Develop a strategic plan and allocate resources to support the successful implementation of Silkwood’s whole-school LOTE (Languages Other Than English) program, with a primary focus on Italian language and culture. Additionally, provide guidance and enrichment opportunities for students engaging in Personal Interest Learning Time (PILT) who wish to explore other languages and cultures aligned with their individual passions.

Operational Area Leadership: Work in partnership with your department leadership team to support and progress LOTE opportunities and attend to operational leadership processes such as – budgets, team member coaching and co-ordinator reporting.

About You:

You are a passionate Italian language educator with:

Formal qualifications in teaching, with a specialisation in Italian.

Proven experience delivering engaging Italian language programs in school settings.

Confidence in leading curriculum development in LOTE.

Strong organisational and interpersonal skills.

A commitment to cultural inclusivity and community engagement.
