About the role
Join our City Operations directorate in this newly created role and manage our vehicle life-cycle decisions through the coordination of procurement, registration, commissioning and disposal activities to optimise whole-of-life cost and residual value.
You will lead and develop your two direct reports through setting work priorities and completing performance and development reviews as well as overseeing contract and vendor performance including chairing quarterly reviews, resolving escalated issues and ensuring service-level compliance.
What your day will look like
Leading the development and endorsement of business cases, capital requisitions, and contract variations as part of the annual Fleet Procurement Plan and budget
Ensuring accurate and compliant fleet asset data by maintaining system governance for audit, maintenance scheduling, and financial reporting
Engaging directly in procurement planning, including reviewing specifications for new fleet, electric vehicles, and mobile plant to ensure operational fit and long-term value
Managing relationships with fleet suppliers, vendors, and service contractors, including oversight of service-level performance and resolution of escalated issues
Partnering with operational teams across Council to align fleet allocation, vehicle modifications, and fit-outs to service needs
Supporting the Coordinator with policy development and contributing to strategic initiatives such as fleet sustainability and risk management
Fostering continuous improvement, empowering the Fleet Management team to identify and deliver service efficiencies
What you will bring
Degree or diploma in Logistics, Fleet Management, Procurement, Business Administration or similar with some relevant experience OR lesser formal qualifications and substantial relevant experience
Sound knowledge of and experience in fleet operations, vehicle procurement or planning, and inventory control
Proven ability to supervise staff and manage workflows to meet operational targets
Strong understanding of and experience with procurement processes, inventory systems, and asset management practices
Competency in use of fleet management, finance, and asset systems for planning, procurement, and reporting purposes
