Our client is a well-known and respected provider of products and services to the residential and commercial markets. We are currently seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated HR and Payroll Officer to join their team in Newcastle. As the Payroll Officer, you will manage the payroll process for staff and contractors, ensuring accuracy, compliance and administrative tasks are met. Within this role, you will also provide HR Administration support.
The role:
Payroll
- Manage all payroll services according to the relevant awards, agreements and legislative requirements.
- Liaise with project staff to ensure all necessary data is available for accurate and timely payments to employees.
- Accurate input of data into simPRO and Xero payroll software.
- Calculate and process employee wages, including overtime, bonuses and other allowances.
- Provide responsive, accurate advice on payroll matters and resolve difficult enquiries
- Payroll reporting to meet internal and other legislative statutory obligations through processing and preparing returns, related reports, forms and other documentation as requested and liaising with 3rd parties where needed.
HR Administration
- Maintain human resource databases to ensure correct recording of all staff and employment related information as required.
- Prepare welcome kits and onboarding information sent out to new starters.
- Follow up new starter paperwork.
- Review and monitor various workflows including contracts due for renewal, probationary reviews and pay increments.
- Manage the expiry process for all checks and licences.
- Manage the administration tasks for the staff performance review process.
- Maintain and update HR systems, databases, and registers.
- Maintain and update the organisational charts.
- Provide administrative and accounting support to the finance team.
What we're looking for:
- Minimum 3 years experience in a similar role
- The ability to multitask and prioritise daily workload
- Highly motivated self starter eager to learn, adapt and help others when needed
- Possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Strong attention to detail
- Experience with simPRO and Xero highly regarded
- A positive can-do attitude
- Highly organised and focused
- Reliable and committed to work hours
