The Role - Payroll Officer x 2 - Full time 76 hours / - Epping Head Office - 12 month fixed-term contracts
We are recruiting for two Payroll Officers to join the Finance team and work closely with the Payroll Supervisor, other Payroll Officers, and the broader People and Culture team. You’ll also collaborate with operational and support services teams across Southern Cross Care (SCC) and liaise with external partners that support our payroll and time and attendance systems, and government agencies.
You will be processing a fortnightly payroll of approx 2,500 employees and must be available to work in Epping Head Office on Wednesday and Thursday of pay week.
What your day looks like:
Maintain and update payroll masterfiles and employee records
Interpret time and attendance data in line with SCC Enterprise Agreements and policies
Process pay runs, terminations, redundancies, LSL, and back pays accurately
Ensure compliance with taxation, superannuation, and other statutory obligations
Support payroll reporting for internal and external audits
Identify and resolve payroll discrepancies and errors
Assist with system testing and configuration documentation
Contribute to process improvements and automation initiatives
Ensure all payroll activities meet legislative and policy requirements
Requirements
Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
Excellent time management and ability to meet deadlines
Sound judgement in interpreting awards and legislation
High level of confidentiality and professionalism
Strong customer service and communication skills
Proficiency in payroll systems, T&A software, and Microsoft Office
Your Experience
Minimum 3 years’ experience in payroll processing within a team environment
Demonstrated understanding of payroll legislation and enterprise agreements
Experience managing competing priorities in a fast-paced setting
Desirables
Experience in health, aged care, or similar timesheet-driven environments
Familiarity with Payroll Metrics and RosterOn systems
Exposure to audit processes and payroll reporting
