About the Role
We are looking for an educator passionate about working within a museum whose mission is to amplify the voices of Holocaust survivors and inspire future generations to combat antisemitism, racism, and prejudice.
This role is primarily focused on delivering our Year 5–12 school education programs, both onsite and online, in collaboration with Holocaust survivors, volunteers, and educators. You’ll tailor content to meet student needs, contribute to program development and evaluation, and support education volunteer training and feedback.
The Education Officer must be a dynamic and engaging educator, confident in delivering programs across primary, secondary, and tertiary levels. You will bring strong pedagogical skills, experience in teaching, museum or informal learning environments, and competence in using learning technologies to support meaningful learning outcomes.
Success in this role requires the ability to multitask, work collaboratively with curatorial, education and program staff, and build strong relationships with internal teams and external stakeholders.
This is a part-time role (0.8 FTE), requiring onsite attendance at the Melbourne Holocaust Museum in Elsternwick on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays.
About You
You have:
a qualification in either: museum studies or education with a speciality in Humanities, History or similar qualifications
experience in museum settings delivering education programs to primary and secondary students (preferred)
an understanding of the history of the Holocaust
You’re familiar with the Victorian and/or Australian Curriculum, particularly in the humanities or history disciplines.
You’re driven by the need to have impact and want to make the world a better place.
You are passionate about empowering the next generation with skills and knowledge to help them to be engaged citizens.
You are an engaging presenter and are confident in facilitating meaningful learning experiences for students.
You thrive being in a team, collaborating and creating innovative work with colleagues.
You are empathetic and understanding, leading with kindness in the workplace.
You have a growth mindset and are looking for ways to enhance your practice.

Established by Holocaust survivors in 1984, the MHM is an award-winning museum and research centre, showcasing two permanent exhibitions and a diverse rotation of special exhibitions.
