The Venue
Flinders Street Wharves (FSW) will feature multiple indoor and outdoor dining spaces and bars including a rooftop bar designed for special events with a focus on tourism event attachments. The venue is centrally located in the heart of Townsville.
FSW will also include a new overwater restaurant and bar, The Docks, will be the first of its kind in North Queensland and will offer a more elevated experience with a Mediterranean inspired feel.
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and hands-on HR professional to join our team as we prepare to launch an exciting new hospitality pub and floating pontoon restaurant in North Queensland. This is a key operational role focused on award compliance, recruitment of frontline team members, and supporting a positive and productive workplace culture.
Key Responsibilities
Coordinate end-to-end recruitment for roles (e.g., bar staff, kitchen, floor staff, events, functions)
Draft and manage job advertisements and liaise with recruitment platforms
Screen candidates, schedule interviews, and support onboarding and induction processes
Interpret and apply relevant hospitality awards and ensure compliance with Fair Work requirements
Liaise with the accounts/payroll provider to ensure correct setup and pay rate alignment
Support rosters and staffing levels in line with business needs and award requirements
Maintain employee records and ensure documentation is up to date and compliant
Provide day-to-day HR support to team members and supervisors on staffing and workplace matters
Assist in developing and implementing workplace policies and procedures
Support workplace culture and communication during pre-opening and post-opening stages
About You
Minimum 3 years’ experience in a generalist HR or recruitment role, ideally in hospitality or retail
Strong working knowledge of relevant modern awards (e.g. Hospitality Industry (General) Award)
Confident liaising with payroll and finance personnel (but not required to process payroll)
Demonstrated experience recruiting frontline staff at volume
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organisational skills
High level of integrity, discretion, and a team-focused attitude
Ability to work flexibly and adapt to the pace of a new venue opening
Desirable
HR or business-related qualification
Experience with Tanda
Knowledge of workplace health and safety considerations in hospitality
