About the role
Permanent part time opportunity to contribute to patient care by providing advanced level therapy support to patients with swallowing and/or communication deficits delegated under the supervision of a speech pathologist. This includes direct intervention with individuals and their significant others as well as activities within a group setting.
About you
Our ideal candidate will be someone who can carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health's values:
- Provision of individual and group activities as directed by the speech pathologist (including computer or device-based therapy programs and communication/swallowing exercise programs), to patients with diverse and complex medical conditions with minimal direct supervision.
- Communicate effectively with patients, speech pathologists, other hospital staff and work collaboratively as part of the healthcare team within the boundaries and scope of the role.
- Provide supervision, mentoring and support to CA3 speech pathology staff including leading, training and education to enhance CA3 staff clinical competency and practice.
