The Top End School of Flexible Learning (TESFL) delivers trauma-informed, culturally responsive education to young people aged 12–18 who have disengaged from mainstream schooling. Our focus is on re-engagement, building personal agency, and creating positive pathways to further education, employment, or training.
TESoFL operates three campuses in Malak, Palmerston, and Tivendale, to support students from diverse cultural backgrounds. Located within Holtze Youth Detention Centre, this site delivers education as part of youth justice rehabilitation and reintegration. The campus operates within a 45 week school year, not a 40 week school year like other schools.

Generalist Secondary Teachers
Specialist Teachers in Literacy, Numeracy, and Vocational Skills
We are looking for Educators who:
Are wellbeing-focused, with experience in student engagement, mentoring, or case management (ideal for youth workers with teaching qualifications)
Demonstrate flexibility, compassion, and resilience in challenging environments
Thrive in cross-cultural, trauma-informed, and inclusive settings
Can differentiate curriculum and build strong relationships with students
Are committed to equity, social justice, and improving outcomes for young people
Hold, or are eligible for, Northern Territory Teacher Registration Board (TRB) registration and a current NT Working with Children Notice (Ochre Card) from SAFE NT
What we offer:
Competitive salary range $92,215 – $131,349 (based on experience) plus 17.5% leave loading
Generous leave entitlements, including 6 weeks recreational leave and 4 weeks special leave (aka stand-down leave), and cultural leave annually
A “Designated School Allowance” of $3484 in addition to normal salary regardless of level
Relocation assistance, including support with moving costs and up to six fortnightly relocation allowance payments (**$661*/fortnight single; $914/fortnight with dependants*)
Professional development and mentoring programs to support your growth
Possible reimbursement of up to $3,000 towards HELP debt (subject to CEO approval)
Additional Information:
Applicants who completed initial teacher education (ITE) after 1 July 2016 must provide proof of successful completion of the national Literacy and Numeracy Test for ITE students
