This position is open to Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people only.

Your role

This is a rewarding opportunity to create meaningful outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients with complex housing and support needs.

As an Aboriginal Senior Client service Officer, you will provide tailored advice and support across tenancy, housing and property management services. You'll work collaboratively with client's, internal staff and external providers to ensure culturally responsive and effective service delivery.

You will be part of a community focused team, working to support stronger, more inclusive housing outcomes and improved pathways for sustainable living.

What you'll do

  • Provide advice to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients and their advocates to navigate complex housing needs.
  • Deliver support in line with eligibility, client's needs, and relevant legislation, policy and procedures.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external service providers to address complex client needs and deliver integrated services.
  • Resolve complex tenancy issues and neighbourhood disputes; manage breach of tenancy agreements and represent Housing NSW at the NCAT.
  • Coach client service team members to improve skills in assessing and managing clients, including those with complex needs
  • Manage key client processes and systems, including transfers and arrears and monitor against team and district targets to optimise asset and business performance.
  • Manage client accounts and oversee application and review of rental subsidies to ensure timely completion and compliance with current policy.
  • Manage client information to ensure confidentiality, accuracy and integrity.
  • Monitor workflows and identify work priorities, team development and training needs.

What we're looking for

  • Aboriginality - typically all or the majority of the work of an Aboriginal identified role will involve the development and or delivery of policy, programs and services which impact on Aboriginal people and or involve liaising directly with Aboriginal people and communities
  • Strong customer service and communication skills, with a commitment to supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients
  • Demonstrated cultural capability, including lived experience, strong community relationships and a sound understanding of historical impacts on Aboriginal communities.
  • A current driver's licence (unrestricted) and willingness to travel is required (regional locations only).

As an Identified role, this position is open only to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander persons, Australia's First Nations people

Where a position is identified, an applicant's race is a genuine occupational qualification under the exception in Section 14(d) of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977.

There are two alternatives to confirming your Aboriginality, one of which must be uploaded to be considered for the role as follows. Either will be accepted:

Confirmation of Aboriginality form

  • identifies as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person, and
  • is accepted as a such by the Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander community.
