About the role:

Murray Local Land Services is seeking a Senior Biosecurity Officer to lead the delivery of Animal and Plant Biosecurity, Invasive Species Work and Travelling Stock Route programs, projects, and advisory services across the Murray region.

We’re looking for an experienced and passionate biosecurity professional to help drive critical on-ground delivery of animal and plant biosecurity programs in southern NSW. If you’re ready to step into a role that’s as diverse as it is rewarding – this is your opportunity.

Working across Travelling Stock Reserves, plant and animal health, invasive species, and animal welfare, you’ll be part of a committed team safeguarding the productivity and resilience of our region.

This role will see you:

  • Lead and deliver biosecurity programs that tackle pest animals, plant health, and disease risks
  • Support emergency response and recovery efforts
  • Conduct surveillance, field investigations and compliance activities
  • Build strong working relationships with landholders, stakeholders and other agencies
  • Contribute to proactive education and outreach, increasing local capacity to manage biosecurity risks

What we’re looking for:

We want someone who can work independently in the field, communicate clearly with landholders and stakeholders, and is passionate about protecting the agricultural and environmental values of our region.

Essential:

  • Current NSW Class C Driver Licence and willingness to travel
  • Relevant pesticide accreditation and willingness to obtain Cert IV in Government Investigations
  • Ability to meet requirements to be an Authorised Officer under the Biosecurity Act.
  • Capacity to hold a NSW firearms licence or equivalent, and a Statement of Attainment (to Use Firearms to humanely destroy animals AQF AHCVPT203A, AHCPMG304)
  • Strong understanding of animal and plant biosecurity issues and Invasive Species and TSR issues
