About the role

The Project Officer plays a key role in supporting the Open Space Planning and Green Infrastructure team, with a strong emphasis on delivering projects that enhance Melbourne’s green public spaces and improve climate resilience.

They will lead the project management of small to medium initiatives within the Pocket Parks and Streetscape Greening capital works programs. This includes park expansions, streetscape transformations, and contributing to climate adaptation outcomes across the municipality.

Working closely with the Senior Project Coordinator City Greening and the Manager, the Project Officer will also collaborate across council teams to provide expert guidance on developing green infrastructure and public realm projects citywide.

This is a Temporary Full-Time opportunity until the 30 June 2028.

What your experience might look like

A tertiary qualification in Landscape Architecture, Project Management, Engineering, Horticulture, or Natural Resource Management or equivalent hands-on experience in a similar field

Proven experience leading greening initiatives, designing vibrant streetscapes, and applying water-sensitive urban design principles

Strong project management capability, with a track record of delivering multiple projects on time and within budget

Exceptional communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with confidence in representing Council in public settings and facilitating positive negotiations

Advanced written and verbal communication skills to convey ideas clearly and effectively
