Posted 28 days ago
Passionate about research and the grains industry?
This one-year position provides graduate students with a kick-start to a career in grains research through hands-on experience at Hart, one of Australia's leading cropping research trial sites.
Since 2016, we've worked with some outstanding ag graduates through our Regional Internship in Applied Grains Research program.
Our interns live, work & play in the beautiful Clare Valley (in South Australia's Mid-North) for a year and feel part of the team from the minute they arrive.
DEVELOP YOUR SKILLS
Gain skills in trial design & management, sampling and statistical analysis, and learn a range of communication methods as you engage directly with growers and advisors.
MULTIPLE RESEARCH AREAS
Research areas include weed management & control, soil fertility & crop nutrition, crop entomology, agronomy, seeding systems, drought resilience and more, with options to focus on projects that align with the successful applicant’s interests.
BUILD NETWORKS
Work side-by-side with Hart's Research & Extension Manager and collaborate on-site with the state's best researchers, consultants & industry reps.
OUT AND ABOUT
You'll also spend time with SARDI researchers at WAITE, collaborate on SA Drought Hub initiatives and attend other field days, workshops and industry events to broaden your knowledge even further.
In addition, you'll assist with the planning and organisation of Hart events (e.g. field days and workshops) and gain experience in a range of extension activities and communications.
The successful applicant will receive a high level of training and support in all aspects of the role, while also having the opportunity to work independently.
