Publishing, Events & Marketing Coordinator

Part-Time Contract (3–4 days/week)

Hawker Brownlow Publishing

About the Role

Hawker Brownlow Publishing is seeking a highly organised, execution-focused coordinator to manage publishing workflows, event logistics, and marketing operations across its core brands.

This is not a strategic or creative lead role. It’s a structured operations role focused on coordination, task discipline, and delivery. You’ll act as the central hub ensuring people, assets, and timelines stay aligned across publishing projects, conferences, and marketing campaigns.

You’ll also be responsible for producing detailed operational reports, highlighting both execution outcomes and performance metrics. Your reporting will be used to identify inefficiencies, track progress, and support management visibility into workload, delivery, and revenue alignment.

Key Responsibilities

Publishing Coordination

Track the publishing pipeline from manuscript to print

Liaise with authors, editors, designers, typesetters, and printers

Manage key assets: ISBNs, metadata, bios, covers, and branding

Coordinate web content updates and product launches

Maintain consistency across visual, structural, and marketing elements

Events Coordination

Manage logistics for education events and conferences

Liaise with speakers and venues (bios, travel, accommodation)

Track and deliver all materials: print collateral, signage, book stock, catalogues

Coordinate timelines and communication across internal and external contributors

Ensure smooth on-site delivery and post-event wrap-up

Marketing Operations

Coordinate execution across EDMs, social posts, and campaign calendars

Liaise with content suppliers, designers, and approval stakeholders

Upload and QA content in Mailchimp and on social platforms

Maintain attribution integrity in Close CRM

What You’ll Need

Proven coordination experience (publishing, events, or marketing ops)

Excellent reporting and task-tracking capability

Strong written communication and organisational skills

Experience managing multiple concurrent timelines

Proficiency with Google Suite / Microsoft Office, Mailchimp, Canva

Professionalism in working with authors, creatives, and stakeholders

Nice to Have

Familiarity with education, publishing, or event management sectors

Experience using Close CRM or similar attribution tools

Exposure to summit/conference coordination or end-to-end publishing

Role Details

Contract role: 3–4 days/week (with possible expansion to full-time)

Flexible schedule (ideally Mon–Thu)

Remote with occasional in-person meetings

Hourly rate: $45–$60/hour (based on experience)

How to Apply

Please submit a short cover letter and resume including these answers to these questions below. Your application will not be considered if you do not provide answers:

Application Questions – Publishing, Events & Marketing Coordinator

Please respond to the following questions. Short, clear answers are preferred over long generalisations. Where possible, use real examples.

1. A brief summary of your coordination or operations experience.

2. One example of a campaign, event, or publishing project you’ve managed end-to-end.

3. Tell me about a time you were responsible for an outcome, but the process was unclear or undocumented.

What did you do first? How did you approach it? What was the result?

4. You notice a process inefficiency that’s slowing down a task or creating risk.

When you raise it, a colleague says:

“Yeah, we all know it’s clunky, but that’s just how it works here. Don’t flag it; it’ll just create problems for management and make things harder for everyone.”

How would you respond? What would you do next?

5. Tell me about a time someone gave you a request that didn’t make sense, or wasn’t in the best interest of the business or the customer.

What did you do? How did you decide whether to push back or proceed?

6. Who or what is more important: the employee, the business, or the customer; when they can’t all be at the same time?
