Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of individuals with complex mental health needs?
We are seeking dedicated and compassionate Mental Health Support Workers to join our team for our complex participants with challenging behaviors. This is a unique opportunity to work with a participant who requires intensive support, including managing challenging behaviors such as aggression, self-harm, property damage and other high-risk situations.
LOCATIONS INCLUDE: Newcastle, Hunter Valley, Central Coast and Lake Macquarie.
Hours required: Must be available for a minimum of 3 days per week across multiple shifts (Day, afternoon, night, sleepover, active nights)
Key Responsibilities:
Provide personalised support to individuals with severe mental health challenges.
Manage behaviors that may include aggression, self-harm, and other high-risk situations in a safe and professional manner.
Assist with daily living tasks, promoting independence and improving quality of life.
Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team to develop and implement individualised care plans.
Maintain clear, accurate, and timely records of incidents, progress, and observations.
Provide emotional support and encourage positive behavior change.
Ensure the safety and well-being of participants at all times.
Provide personal care on different levels depending on the participants needs.
Key Requirements:
Experience working in mental health or a similar support role, particularly with individuals who exhibit challenging behaviors.
Strong understanding of mental health conditions and a willingness to work with complex and high-risk situations.
Ability to remain calm and professional in stressful and challenging circumstances.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
A compassionate, patient, and resilient approach to care.
Relevant qualifications in mental health or related fields (preferred but not essential).
Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
