What We Do

Lockwood Engineering provides wide-ranging engineering consulting services, primarily to the insurance sector.

When a building is damaged by fire, impact, an earthquake or is otherwise distressed, the various stakeholders need to know how to put the building back together. That is where we come in.

Our key engineering services include :

Site inspections of distressed structures; including residential, commercial and industrial buildings.

Engineers reports determining the cause and extent of building damage.

Scope of Works documents detailing the required repairs to reinstate the building.

Provision of immediate Make Safe advice for the temporary bracing / propping of damaged buildings in emergency situations.

Engineering computations and drawings for building works.

What You Will Do

Travel to various sites across Victoria.

Attend site inspections with a senior engineer and assist with assessing the site.

Following each site inspection, prepare the required engineering documentation under the supervision and guidance of a senior engineer.

Liaise with various stakeholders including insurers, property owners and builders.

Attend regular face-to-face training meetings (weekly at first).

What We Provide

Flexible working arrangement (approximately 32 hours per week on an agreed schedule).

Travel to a diverse range of sites across Victoria (including metropolitan and regional areas).

All work-related travel costs to and from sites reimbursed (including fuel and tolls).

Comprehensive training across a wide range of engineering capabilities.

Regular in-person meetings / technical training sessions at a central location (weekly at first).

Support to undertake further professional development (through Engineers Australia seminars and other formal training where relevant).

Work uniform and all required site safety equipment.

All required engineering site equipment.

Laptop computer (if required, can use personal computer if preferred).

Competitive salary package: $70k - $75k per annum (working a 4-day week), plus superannuation.

What You Bring

Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of people.

Willing attitude to learn new skills and continually develop.

Availability to be contacted during the agreed working hours.

Full valid drivers license (not probationary license) .

Car of respectable appearance.

Good driving record / safe driver.

Ability to do computer work as the passenger in a vehicle (on occasions when driving between work sites with another engineer in the company vehicle).

Please note that Lockwood Engineering does not have a central office and all employees work autonomously from their own home office or other location.

However, during the course of a typical week, employees have many opportunities to interact with co-workers and other stakeholders (mostly as part of regular site inspections and face-to-face meetings).
