The Opportunity

Moonee Valley City Council is leading the charge toward a cleaner, more sustainable transport future. We are seeking a passionate and proactive Project Officer - Electric Vehicle Transition to support the planning, coordination, and delivery of initiatives that will help us transition our fleet to electric vehicles (EVs). Working closely with internal departments and external partners, this role will play a key part in reducing emissions and modernising our operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage procurement processes for electric vehicles in line with Council policies.
• Develop training and operational materials for staff on the safe and efficient use of EVs and charging systems.
• Monitor and update project and financial management systems to reflect project progress and expenditure.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external contractors to ensure alignment with project goals.
• Record and maintain all electronic and hard copy documentation to ensure compliance with appropriate Council policies
• Provide technical advice and support across departments to promote EV transition success.
• Monitor and routinely update Council's Project, Financial and Fleet Management Systems to ensure these systems accurately reflect project status and expenditure.

Skills & Experience

The ideal candidate will hold a qualification in Project Management and have hands-on experience with electric vehicle operations, fleet management, or a related field. You will have a sound understanding of EV technology, charging infrastructure, and relevant legislative frameworks, along with the ability to manage complex projects from planning through to execution. Strong communication skills-both written and verbal-are essential for engaging diverse stakeholders, delivering training, and reporting progress. Proficiency with Microsoft Office is required, and experience using fleet systems such as Ausfleet will be highly regarded.
