We are seeking an outstanding and enthusiastic Head of Mathematics to join our team at St John Bosco College in 2026. This is a 1.0 FTE ongoing position, commencing on January 1, 2026.
St John Bosco College is a Catholic co-educational College in its eleventh year of operation. The College is situated in Piara Waters, a southern suburb of Perth, Western Australia. We commenced in 2015 with students from Kindergarten to Year 2. In 2025, we have 1350 students from Pre-Kindergarten to Year 12, as well as an OSHC facility and an Aboriginal Families as First Educators Playgroup. Our innovative building design has a focus on shared, flexible learning spaces which support best practice, 21st century teaching and learning methods.
The College motto “JOY IN LEARNING” is strongly exemplified in the person, life and teachings of our patron, St John Bosco. Our vision for this new Pre-Kindergarten to Year 12 College is creating a flourishing environment in which every student can experience the joy in learning and thrive in a Catholic learning community, where development of the whole person is of utmost importance. PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
The Head of Mathematics is is the pastoral and curriculum leader within the College, responsible for:
· Leading the learning and teaching of Mathematics.
· Ensuring courses are inclusive, engaging and innovative and meet all curricular standards.
· Leading and mentoring and driving professional growth of the learning area.
· Driving improvement cycles around academic excellence.
· Actively contributing to the development of the Catholic ethos and culture of the College.

SPECIAL SKILLS
Special skills are needed to be involved in a Foundation College and applications are invited from applicants who possess the following attributes:
· Actively support the Catholic ethos of Catholic Education and St John Bosco College and a willingness to promote and support Catholic values as a member of the Bosco community.
· The ability to teach ATAR Mathematics Methods and Mathematics Specialist is highly desirable.
· Demonstrate the capacity and enthusiasm to build community by participating in College activities in collaboration with staff, parents, students and the St Francis Xavier Parish.
· Display excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
· Have a demonstrated capacity to improve student learning.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
· Have a four-year teaching qualification.
· The ability to teach ATAR Mathematics Methods and Specialist is highly desirable.
· Display excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
· Have a commitment to Child Safety and Protection consistent with the CEWA Child Safe Framework.
· Current Teachers Registration (includes National Police Clearance).
· Current Working with Children Check.
· Possess, or be willing to obtain, Accreditation for Middle Leaders in Catholic Schools.

Salary level: Step 1 – Step 10
Promotional Allowance: Category 2, Level 1
This is a full-time, ongoing Position Commencing Semester 1 2026, with a review in the third year.
